LAGO DE PATZCUARO

The town has mostly cobble stone streets with topes so we drive very slowly. One couple we know hit a tope last year in their motor home and broke the towe hitch off and also busted the frame on the motor home. We just drove up the east side of the lake this day to Tzintzuntzan.

IHUATZIO RUINS

The ruins are about 2 km from the lake now but were much closer to the water when they were built. We were the only ones there so the care taker walked with us and explained what went on there. He was speaking spanish and we were trying hard to understand.

March 15, 2009 Patzcuaro

We did the Friends of the library outing today on Lake Patzcuaro. This is a spring fed lake and run off from the surrounding hills. The water level is lower every year. I think it must have been beautiful 50 years ago. Now Ernie calls it Lago de Cafe con creama. It is thicker than Falcon res. back home which has the Rio Grande filling it.
